Blake Machinery Group (BMG) and Blake Machinery Group Parts (BMG Parts) (‘we, ‘our’ or ‘us’) as collectors and users of personal and sensitive information are bound by the privacy laws in Australia (the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth)) (the ‘Act’) including the Australian Privacy Principles.

By providing us with your personal information, you consent to this Privacy Policy including the way in which we collect, store use, secure and disclose such information.

Collecting personal information about you

The information we collect from you will depend on the nature of our dealings with you, but in all cases we will only collect the personal information we need to conduct our business relationship with you. Typically such information will include your name, contact details, information about our interaction with you. If you request, then we will use our best endeavours to deal with you on an anonymous basis.

Our aim is to ensure your personal information is accurate and up to date. Please contact us if the information you have provided to us changes and we will use all reasonable efforts to update your information.

Collecting your personal information

Where possible we will collect your personal information from our dealings with you including in person, over the phone, or when we have correspondence with you (e.g. email, fax, letter).

In some instances, we may collect personal information about you from third parties. For example from clients who use our services or suppliers and contractors we engage in our business, credit agencies, recruitment agents and auction houses.

 

We may use cookies to improve your online experience however; any data collected is only used for automating tasks in your web session. For example, cookies may be used to store certain data about you (e.g. your account login details) to prevent you from having to re-enter information. You can disable cookies at any time via your browser’s security settings.

If you visit our website, we may collect your internet protocol (IP) address or Unique Device Identifier and other details about your usage of our website.

Account customers

If you, or a company of which are a director applies to us for credit, or if you have guaranteed or offered to guarantee an applicant for credit, then then we will collect and hold your name and associated company name, your contact details, date of birth, bank account details, driver’s licence number and any other information we deem relevant to your application.

We will also obtain and store trade references, credit reports and credit history from credit agencies and credit providers. It is necessary for us to collect this information in order to process and assess your application for credit and for our ongoing dealings with you should you become an account customer.

Where the Act permits us to, we may disclose your personal information (including credit information) to credit reporting bodies.

Storage and security of your personal information

We will take all reasonable steps to keep any personal information we hold about you protected from loss, misuse or unauthorised access, modification and disclosure.

Please note email communication is not secure, and as such any personal information you send via email is done so at your own risk.

Using and disclosing your personal information

We will use your personal information to conduct our dealings with you, for recruitment purposes, for business development and marketing purposes (e.g. to provide you with updated information about our products and services). If you receive marketing communications from us, you may opt out of receiving them at any time.

We will not use your personal information for any other purpose unless you consent to such use, such uses are disclosed to you when we collect the information or unless we are required or authorised to do so under the exemptions set out in the Act.

Access to personal information

You may request access to any personal information we hold about you at any time, subject to some exceptions allowed by law.

Job applicants

If you apply for a job with us, we may collect sensitive information from you including health information. We may also conduct policy record checks, Workcover checks and engage third parties to conduct background checks. If you become an employee the information collected during this process will become part of your employee record and this policy will not apply to the extent we use the information in relation to your employment with us.

Storage and security of your personal information

We hold our customer data electronically and in paper files. These may include the servers of our third party service providers. While we take all reasonable steps to ensure any information you provide us remains secure, to the extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability (including negligence) for the consequences of any unauthorised access to your personal information.

SECURE CAPABILITIES AND POLICY FOR TRANSMISSION OF PAYMENT CARD DETAILS

When you place orders on-line, we have put practices in place to ensure your personal information is protected. To prevent unauthorised access or disclosure of personal information you send us over the internet, we use a secure server. The secure server software (SSL) encrypts all information you input before it is sent to us. SSL encryption is designed to make the information unreadable by anyone but us. This security measure is working when you see either the symbol of an unbroken key or closed lock (depending on your browser) on the bottom of your browser window.

All card payments through our website are processed securely through an e-commerce gateway provided by ANZ. Card payment are made directly through 256 bit  SSL encryption software to ensure your personal details are kept safe.

None of your card payment details are stored on our server.
